I've been blessed to see the Lord provide on so many occasions and in so many ways. A particular instance was the birth of our first child Liv in 2012. My wife and I had struggled with fertility issues for a couple years, so to have a baby was a miracle in and of itself. Or the countless ways the Lord has provided for my family in the past whether through new jobs, finances, a new house, cars, you name it... the Lord is so faithful.
But never in my life have I been so amazed of God's provision as I've been in the last month and a half. Before we took this step of faith to move to Austin to do a worship residency at the Austin Stone Community Church we knew it was going to stretch us. For me to go from a place of comfort to a place of unknown was a little scary to say the least. While I knew the rewards (growth as a pastor, discipleship, etc) fully outweighed the risks it was still difficult to take that first step and say "Yes, we're doing this!" Not to mention, the whole support raising thing was new to me and a little daunting. Thoughts of doubt and fear continually ran through my head, "Lord, You want me to move my family to Austin, take this huge step of faith and support raise 100% of our finances... how is this going to be possible?" Immediately I was reminded that with God all things are possible through Christ.
Through support raising, over the past month and a half, I've experienced episodes of doubt, frustration, loneliness and even fear. But, I've also experienced immense joy and been brought to tears as finances have come in, and once again I'm reminded that I serve a powerful and faithful God. Amidst all of this there has been an overwhelming peace and comfort in His sovereign will. Both Jessica and I know that we are in the center of God's will because we've taken the step of obedience He's called us to take. There's no doubt in our minds this is what the Lord has for us. Through trials we have seen the glory of our Savior and grown more in our relationship with Him. We've seen doors opened with opportunity to the share the Gospel. We've seen the words of Psalm 55:22 come to life in our hearts, "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you." Not comfort, not money, not fame or notoriety will sustain... only Jesus. Through this season of support raising the Lord has shown us that what we need the most is more of Him. We're so thankful He's led us to this point and we're excited for the days ahead!
Here is how the Lord has provided over the last month and a half:
- Thus far we've reached about 82% of our first year support goal!
- We found a house in east Round Rock to live in.
- We were able to sell our house in Forney in just 2 days, and OVER our asking price! We found out today that our house will appraise for the full value!
- I've been blessed with a full schedule to lead at churches throughout the summer months.
- Jessica's photography business has blown up! She's even had to turn away people because she's fully booked. I'm so proud of her, she has such an amazing gift!
We would be honored and blessed to have you not only pray for us, but consider partnering with us in this next season of ministry. For more information about our move to Austin and ways you can support us please check out this video we put together as well as our Partner Page!
