I came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of eight after being exposed to the Gospel at a young age. But while most of my young life consisted of going to church and knowing that Christ was my Savior, I wasn’t completely aware of how to live my life for Him. As I grew older, situations and circumstances led to spiritually dry and dark times in my life. I was consumed with doing things my own way. I had my own dreams and aspirations of how things should be and it all started to contribute to a distant relationship with the Lord. After graduating from Belmont University in May 2006 with a degree in music, I desired an illustrious career in the music business or professional golf; however, God continued to overwhelm my heart with His grace and mercy. He convicted me of the sin I was immersed in, which brought about repentance in my life as He reminded my soul of His unconditional love.
After much prayer God revealed to me that I needed to surrender everything to Him, and He opened my eyes to His calling. I fully surrendered to the ministry, and gave up hopes and dreams that I had chased after for so long. The Lord then led me to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to further my education in music and biblical studies. Since graduating from Seminary I've had the opportunity to serve as a Worship Leader in a variety of settings including the local church for over 9 years. Within this calling, the Lord has also blessed me with opportunities to lead in a variety of worship settings as well as create music that displays the glory and majesty of Christ and what He's done in my life.
It was August 24, 2007 when I first laid eyes on my future bride. We just happened to be in the same Old Testament class at Southwestern Seminary. I had to get to know this girl, so I sent her a Facebook message (manly I know...) and we were going out on coffee dates soon after. I knew from the moment I met her she was going to be my bride. We were engaged a year after we met and married on January 10, 2009.
Other than salvation, being married to Jessica has been the greatest gift I've ever received. She is such a humble and devoted follower of Christ and displays it fully as she comes in contact with those around her. I truly couldn't do ministry without her. She encourages me in my walk with Christ, and her devotion and love for Him pushes me to be a better pastor, husband and father. Her creativity in photography and design has inspired me to pursue my passion of music and songwriting to a fuller degree. She is the love of my life and the joy of my heart.
Miracle of Children
Having children is truly a miracle of God, a miracle that our family has experienced firsthand. It was 2009 when we endured our first miscarriage followed by another in 2010. We went through a rough period, wondering if we were ever going to be able to have children. Through much prayer and heartache we trusted fully in the Lord and His provision. If we were supposed to have children, He would faithfully provide.
By God's amazing grace we got pregnant again and in February 2012 had a little girl. We named her Liv which means "Life." Two years later God blessed us with a son named Landry. Every day we are reminded through our children of God's faithfulness. He is truly the giver of life.
