What's a Resident?

This is the vision of the Austin Stone worship residency:

Every September, The Austin Stone launches two-year residencies for worship pastors.

The Worship Residency exists to foster an environment that equips Worship Leaders in the spiritual and practical implications of their ministry to the Church and their city through musical, theological and character development.

In addition to our Worship Development Program, the residents will be placed alongside one of the Austin Stone Worship Leaders to serve in various capacities at their specific campus. This close proximity to a specific worship leader allows for the most personalized growth and development over the two-year period.

Specifically, this worship residency will provide tangible servant leadership experience that builds toward ownership of either a specific worship role at one of our campuses or centrally within the Worship Ministry, and specialized training from our Worship Staff in pastoral leadership and songwriting.

Specifics to My Residency

During my 2 years of residency I will be under the supervision of Chris Collins who serves as the Director of Worship. Chris is such a solid leader of Austin Stone Worship and is a great teacher and follower of Christ. I've already learned and will continue to learn so much from him during my residency.

During the past year at the Austin Stone I've served as a centralized resident where I've had the opportunity to disciple and pour into younger residents in the ministry as well as assisted in writing discipleship material for their online Worship Leader development program. I've had numerous opportunities to lead worship, work in songwriting as well as playing a role in the Austin Stone Worship album "This Glorious Grace" that was released last October. In addition I was also able to lead a team of over 100 volunteers during the Austin Stone Worship Conference in November. These ministry tasks are exciting to me as they fit my gifting and desires as a worship leader and pastor.
